1 tablespoon butter
1/2 of a medium onion, finely diced
1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 cup hot water
1 (14-ounce) can sauerkraut (I use Frank's)
1/2 teaspoon caraway seeds
1 kielbasa or Polish sausage (about 1 lb - I use turkey kielbasa), cut into 1-inch chunks

1. In a large, deep skillet, saute onions and garlic in butter over medium-high heat, until onion is soft.
2. Dissolve brown sugar in hot water, and pour into skillet.
3. Stir in remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil, cover. Lower heat and simmer 30 minutes. Serve with mashed potatoes, and a side of veggies.
