My mom used to make this when I was a kid, and now I make it for my family. It's very yummy! I usually make extra sauce so there is enough to pour over egg noodles or mashed potatoes.

INGREDIENTS
1 envelope onion soup mix (I make my own onion soup mix, and use 1/4 cup)
2 pounds ground beef
3/4 cup dry bread crumbs
1 egg
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper

For sauce:
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 (10.75 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
3/4 cup water
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp beef broth powder or 1 buillion cube

DIRECTIONS
1. In a large bowl, mix together onion soup mix with ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, salt and black pepper. Shape into 6 oval patties.
2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown both sides of patties. Pour off excess fat.
3. In a small bowl, blend flour and soup until smooth. Mix in water, Worcestershire sauce and beef broth powder. Pour over meat in skillet. Cover, and cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Hi Heather,
I just wanted you to know that I made this last night for my family. It was delicious! We are gluten free because I have Celiac Disease, so I made a few substitutions - I used potato flakes in place of bread crumbs, seasoned with onion powder instead of the onion soup mix, and I used gluten free cream of mushroom soup and unsalted beef stock in place of the water and bouillon in the gravy. My family loved it - thank you for such great recipes!
