INGREDIENTS
1 pound lean ground beef
1/2 of a small yellow onion, chopped
1/2 of a large green bell pepper, chopped
1/2 tsp minced garlic
1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes or tomato puree
1 (15 ounce) can stewed tomatoes, chopped
2 tablespoons brown sugar
Pinch baking soda (to reduce acidity)
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning

DIRECTIONS
In a stock pot or large kettle, brown the ground beef with the onions, peppers, and garlic. Pour in tomatoes, and reduce heat. Add sugar, soda, and seasonings, and simmer about 40 minutes. Serve over hot, cooked spaghetti.
